  RESTRICTION OF FLYING REGULATIONS: JET FORMATION DISPLAY TEAM SITES
8 AUGUST – 12 SEPTEMBER 2021

Restricted Areas (Temporary) are established for selected sites in the United Kingdom to protect Jet Formation Display Teams, such as The Royal Air Force Aerobatics Team (The Red Arrows), carrying out displays and associated rehearsals between 8 August and 12 September 2021. The Secretary of State for Transport has decided that it is necessary to introduce Restriction of Flying Regulations under Article 239 of the Air Navigation Order 2016 as stated in The Air Navigation (Restriction of Flying) (Jet Formation Display Teams) Regulations 2021.
The Statutory Instrument (SI) has been made prohibiting access by aircraft to the airspace within which the Jet Formation Display Teams will perform. The Circular contains respective details of the locations and areas of the displays that are listed in Table 1 at paragraph 9 below; any changes or additions to the programme will be notified by NOTAM.
Subject to paragraph 4, and referring to Table 1 at paragraph 9 below, no aircraft is to fly:
  1. on the days specified in column 4 during such periods of time as are notified by NOTAM;

  2. within the area bounded by a circle of 6 NM radius, centred on the position specified in column 2;

  3. below the altitude (AMSL) as specified in Column 3.

Paragraph 3 does not apply to any aircraft flying:
  1. within controlled airspace or within an aerodrome traffic zone in respect of which there is an appropriate air traffic control unit if it flies in accordance with a clearance or permission of the unit controlling that airspace or zone; or

  2. in accordance with a permission issued by the relevant flying display director.

Individual charts show the airspace restrictions for the Jet Formation Display Teams to scale; other restricted airspace for the events may be established and should be considered when planning flights in the vicinity.
Times for each display will be notified separately by NOTAM, feature in the daily AIS Information Line message 08085-354802 and will be included on the Pre-flight Information Bulletins (PIB) through the AIS Web site at http://www.ais.org.uk.
