  TEMPORARY DANGER AREA BVLOS UAS (GOODWOOD AERODROME)
8 APRIL 2021 – 23 SEPTEMBER 2021

Between 8 April 2021 and 23 September 2021, Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) will operate out, and in the vicinity, of Goodwood Aerodrome, to carry out test flights for the purposes of developing new surveillance technology and operational procedures. As the aircraft will be operating Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLoS) and the Detect and Avoid capability will be under development, a Temporary Danger Area (TDA) will be established to facilitate the safe operations within the specified dimensions of the TDA around the aerodrome.
The TDA forms a 5 NM radius around the Goodwood Aerodrome ARP with two fragments excluded in the north and south-east. A chart of the area is included at the end of the document.
The TDA is sponsored by Trax in accordance with Airspace Change Reference ACP-2020_082.
The Danger Area (DA) will be activated on as-required basis and outside of the operating hours of Goodwood Aerodrome and only for required duration to minimise the impact on other airspace users.
Activation of the TDA could take place between 0600 - 0900 (0500-0800) and/or between 1800 - 2100 (1700-2000), 7 days per week, with actual dates and times of activation promulgated by NOTAM. In addition, the status and dimensions of the TDA will be broadcast via FIS-B transmissions. Those airspace users equipped with ADS-B In will be able to receive live information on TDA status.
Activation of the TDA would take place a minimum of 24 hours in advance. In addition, if for any reason the aerodrome is closed to normal traffic during the day, TDA might be activated between the hours of 0900-1800 (0800-1700). The sponsors commit not to activate the TDA for more than 90 days across the 5-month period.
During TDA activation, a Danger Area Activity Information Service (DAAIS) will be available from the Goodwood Aerodrome FISO on the Goodwood Information VHF frequency 122.455 MHz and/or by phone. Whilst operating adjacent to the TDA, it is requested aircraft monitor Goodwood Information on 122.455 MHz.
Contact details for the TDA Operating Authority (Goodwood Tower):

control.tower@goodwood.co.uk.

01243-755061.

Requests for access to the TDA by airborne emergency services shall be made direct to the FISO on 122.455 MHz or they can be made by telephoning the TDA Operating Authority on the details provided above. Access to the TDA by emergency services will always be given priority over UAV operations which will be immediately suspended.
10 Whilst there may be some impact to other airspace users, the Goodwood TDA has been designed to minimise the impact to General Aviation operators who wish to operate in the vicinity. The airspace required will be kept under review to ensure only the volume required is activated and only for the minimum amount of time needed to safely complete the activities.
11 Any airspace users requiring to land or depart Goodwood Aerodrome outside of the aerodrome opening hours would be given priority over UAV operations, following co-ordination with the TDA Operating Authority in accordance with the aerodrome’s out of hours flying permission process.

THE DANGER AREA WILL BE NOTIFIED BY NOTAM

12  EG D097. When required between 8 April 2021 and 23 September 2021, a TDA is established within the area bounded by straight lines joining successively the following points:
  1. 505620N 0004753W;

  2. 505552N 0004133W;

  3. thence clockwise by the arc of a circle radius 5 NM centred on 505134N 0004533W to 504929N 0003823W thence straight lines joining successively the following points;

  4. 504838N 0004032W;

  5. 504709N 0004152W;

  6. thence clockwise by the arc of a circle radius 5 NM centred on 505134N 0004533W to 505620N 0004753W.

13 The TDA EGD097 is established from Surface to 2000 FT AMSL.
14 Within EG D097, a Danger Area Activity Information Service will be available from the Goodwood Aerodrome FISO on the Goodwood Information VHF frequency 122.455 MHz and/or by phone (01243-755061).
15 Further information regarding a DAAIS can be found within UK AIP, Enroute Information ENR1.1. – General Rules.
16 During the establishment of the TDA, the Controlling Authority is Goodwood Aerodrome.
17 Whilst operating within the area of the Goodwood Aerodrome, where possible, it is requested aircraft monitor Goodwood Information on 122.455 MHz.
18 As part of the ACP process requirements, Trax is collecting feedback regarding this TDA and its impact over its duration which will be shared with the CAA. All feedback regarding this may be sent via email to goodwoodbvlos@traxinternational.co.uk.
